QuestionAnswer
Name some elements and what are they the same as? Na, Li, Ag, Au. Are the same thing as atoms.
Define an atom? It is the building block of matter both living and nonliving.
Name some molecules and what are they the same as? O2, NaCl, H2O, H2 O2, C6H12O6. Are the same thing as a compounds.
Define a compound? It is a group of atoms held together by a chemical bond.
Name the 4 macromolecules for life. Carbohydrates, Protein, Nucleic Acids, Lipids.
What are proteins, lipids and carbohydrates? Nutrients.
What's the function of a cell membrane? Its function selectively allows things into and out of the cell.
Heads-Hydrophilic. Tails- hyrodphlsipid Phospholipid bilayer know how to draw it.
Passive transport- Function. Passive transport requires no energy
Define simple diffusion. Diffusion- Any liquid going across a cell membrane. Identify these in an experiment.
Define Osmosis. Water movement from high concentration to low concentration.
What is Solution? mixture 2 or more substance
What is a Solute and a Solvent? Solute- being dissolved Solvent- doing the dissolving
What is Isotonic, Hypertonic, and Hypotonic ??? Isotonic- equal to solute + solvent Hypertonic- higher solute Hypotonic higher solvent
Know the difference between mitochondria and chloroplast. Know the structure of the mitochondria and chloroplast. Whats the function of Thylakoids- it holds the pigment for the chloroplast and Cristae- increase surface area for making energy. Know the difference between mitochondria and chloroplast.
