What are the three Holy Cities in Islam? Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem.
Why did the pilgrims regularly come to Mecca? To worship idols of Kabah.

Who was the greatest physician of the Muslim world? Al-Razi
What kind of followers did Muhammad's message attract? The poor.
How were women treated in Arabia? They were viewed as property.
What does the Qur'an say about men and women? As believes, they are equal.
How many classes were Muslim society made up of? Four.
What were the four classes? Upper class ; people who were Muslim at birth. Second class were people who were converts to Islam. 'Protected People'( Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians were third class. The lowest class were slaves.
Who is Allah? The one and only god in Islam.
What are the Five Pillars? Faith, Prayer, Alms, Fasting, and Pilgrimage.
Qur'an The Holy Book of the Muslims.
Title that means, "successor" or "deputy". Caliph
Where did the Umayyads move the capital to? Damascus
What is the standard for all Literature and poetry? The Qur'an.
Who are the Shi'a, Sunni, and Sufi? The Shi'a were the branch of Islams who acknowledge Ali. The Sunni were those who did not outwardly resist the rule of the Umayyads. While the Sufi rejected the life of the Umayyads all together.
What did the Abbasids do to solidify power? They moved the capital.
A dynasty that ruled the Muslim Empire . The Umayyads
When did the Umayyads rule ? A.D. 661 - 750.
What were the Muslim armies like? Well disciplined and expertly commanded.
What did Muslims prefer to the Christian and Jews as? "People of the book"
How did the Muslims view Jesus? They viewed him as a prophet.
What is Sunna? An Islamic model for living, based on the life and teachings of Muhammad.
