Independent variable Change experimenter makes in an experiment. Also known as the manipulated variable."I" change this first.
Dependent variable Change that responds the the IV. This change depends on the IV. This change is the data collected or data measured to determine if the IV has an effect.This change happens after the IV.
Constant The factors that must stay the same in order for the experiment to be a fair test. The experimenter may only change one variable--the IV--all other factors must stay the same.
Control standard of comparison
Fair test An experiment that changes only one factor
repeated trials Completing an experiment many times. This is done to make the experiment a fair test.
