Neanderthals become extinct They organized a way of life that helped them survive the Ice Age. Thought to be the first humans to speak and use hand signals.
Early villages and farming 12,000 BC- 10,000 BC First farmers appeared in Fertile Crescent and began planting seeds. Farming changed people's life style and helped them stay in one place.
Sumerians and 5 Elements of civilization 3500 BC Five elements are: writing, centralized government, organized religion, job specialization, arts and architecture. Sumerians were people who established the first nation of city/states.
Hammurabi (1792 BC) One of the 3500 BC events He was the King of Babylon. He fought other Amorite kings, conquered them and created a powerful empire.
Greek City- states & culture (science, democracy and 3 columns) One of the 3500 BC events Greek city states were Athens, Sparta, Corithin, Megara and Argos. The Greeks developed the sciences of math, physics, astronomy, and medicine. They created architecture style of Ionic, Doric and Corithian.
Greek Philosphers: Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle One of the 3500 BC events Socrates invented a new philosphy that had people think about the meaning of goodness. Plato was a pupil of Socrates and famous for theory of ideals. Aristotle taught people that they could reach goodness by using the power of their minds.
Roman Empire and Pax Romana Comes after Greek city/states, One of the 3500 BC events Roman empire was formed when the Romans had conquered many other nations and united them under one ruler. Roman Empire stretched from Britain to middle east. Pax Romana means Roman Peace and it was a time when Rome had many cultural achievements.
Julius Caesar Comes after Roman Empire/Pax Romana One of the 3500 BC events Julius Caesar became the ruler of the Roman Empire and brought peace.
Constantine After Julius Ceasar One of the 3500 BC events Constantine became the emperor of the west and later took over the east. He moved the capitol of Roman Empire to Byzantium and renamed it Constantinople.
