what is fuel? is a substance that provides energy-such as heat, light, motion, or electricity-as the result of a chemical change.
what is energy transformation? a change from one form of energy to another. or an energy conversion.
what is combustion? fuels contain stored chemical energy, which can be released.or burning.
what are fossil fuels? are the energy-rich substances formed from the remains of organisms.
what is Hydrocarbons? are chemical compounds that contain carbon and hydrogen atoms.
what is Petroleum? is another name for oil, from the Latin words petra and oleum.
what is refinery? a factory in which crude oil is heated and separated into fuels and other products.
what are petrochemicals? are compounds that are made from oil.
what is solar energy? the warmth you feel on a sunny day.
what is Hydroelectric power? is electricity produced by flowing water.
what are biomass fuels? its wood belongs to a group of fuels.
what is gasohol? adding the alcohol to gasoline forms a mixture.
what is geothermal energy? the intense heat from Earth´s interior that warms the magma.
what is nucleus? the central core of an atom that contains the protons and neutrons.
what is nuclear fission? is the splitting of an atom´s nucleus into two smaller nuclei.
what is a reactor vessel? is the part of the nuclear reactor where nuclear fission occurs.
what are fuel rods? the reactor contains rods of U-235.
what are control rods? made of the metal cadmium, are inserted between the fuel rods.
