Crest The highest point of a wave
Trough The lowest point of a wave.
Amplitude The distance from rest to crest or rest to trough.
Wavelength Measured form crest to crest or trough to trough.
Frequency How many time a crest or trough passes a certain point.
Energy The ability to do work or to cause a change.
Kinetic Energy The energy of motion.
Potential Energy Stored energy; the energy an object has due to its position, molecular arrangement, or chemical composition.
Inertia Is the resistance of an object to a change in the speed or the direction of its motion.
Heat The flow of energy from one object at a higher temperature to an object at a lower temperature.
Joule A unit used to measure energy and work.
Conductor A material that transfers energy easily.
Insulator A material that does not transfer energy easily.
Convection A process by which energy is transferred in gasses and liquids, occurring when a warmer, less dense area of gas or liquid is pushed up by a cooler, more dense area of the gas or liquid.
Radiation Energy that travels across distances in the form of electromagnetic waves.
