Internet: a worldwide collection of networks that links millions of businesses, govt. agencies, educational institutions & individuals.
Access Provider: a business that provides individuals and organization s access to the internet for a fee
ISP: Internet service provider; Provide internet access to a specific geographical location; century link.
OSP: Online service provider; Has many members features; Gmail.
WISP: wireless internet service: provides wireless service to internet; at&t.
links: takes you to other related pages
IP Address: a number that identifies each computer or device connected to the internet
URL / Web Address: consists of a worldwide collection of documents
Web site: collection of related pages
Tabbed Browsing: allows you to open and view multiple web pages in a single web browser window
Web page: individual html document
web server: a computer that delivers requested webpages to your computer
Subject Directory: classifies web pages in an organized set of categories
web browser: allows you to access webpages
E-Commerce: is a business transaction that occurs over an electronic network
Homepage: the first page a webbrowser displays
VoIP: Voice over IP; enables users to speak to other users over the internet
links: takes you to other related pages
FTP: File transfer protocol; permits file uploading and downloading
Downloading: the process of recieving information
URL / Web Address: the unique address to each webpage
Tabbed Browsing: allows you to open and view multiple web pages in a single web browser window
Search Engine: finds information related to a specific topic
