science 8 body systems (digestive, immune, integumentary, skeletal)

alveoli tiny air sacs at the end of bronchioles where gas exchange takes place. (singular-alveolus)
arteries blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart.
blood transports substances. consists of plasma, red blood cells and white blood cells.
capillaries the networks of tiny blood vessels that connect arteries to venules.
circulatory system moves blood throughout the body includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood itself.
gas exchange a process in the lungs in which carbon dioxide passes into the capillaries.
respiratory system supplies blood with oxygen and removes carbon dioxide from the blood.
veins blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
