anti-inflammatories reduce production of prostaglandin - which cause inflammation response - therefore - frictions and deep techs are CI'd
Corticosteroids - a type of anti-inflammatories injection sites local CI for 14 - 21 days
Corticosteroids repeated use alters struc of tissues - atrophy - therefore - fascial techs, frics & joint mobs are all CI'd
MM relaxants act on NMJ - alter stretch response of mm - therefore - deep techs and extreme stretches CI'd. Hydro - moderate only. May also cause postural hypotension- get up slowly
CBAN order of progresson - cold, burning, achy - then numb - as the tissue gets colder
Heat - effects local inc temp, vasodilation, inc blood flow, Px perception dec, dec spasm, dec hypertonicity, inc fascial flex, inc relax
Heat - Uses chronic conditions, TP's, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis (if no swelling), tendinitis, tension headaches, general relax, prep for massage Tx.
