What is a pure substance? matter that always has the same composition.
What is a element? a substance that can not be broken down into a simpler substance.
What is a atom? the smallest particle of an element.
What is a compound? a substance that is made from two or more simpler subtances.
What is a Heterogeneous mixture? a mixture where it is easy to distinguish the particles in a mixture.
What is a Homogeneous mixture? a mixture where it is hard to distinguish the partcles in a mixture.
What is a solution? When substances dissolve and form a homogeneous mixture.
What is a suspension? heterogenous mixture that seperates into layers.
What is a colloid? A mixture that contains particles that are intermediate in size.
What is a physical property? any charateristics that can be observed or seen. Doesnt change the chemical makeup.
What is viscosity? The tendency of an object to keep from flowing.
What is conductivity? the abilty of a material to allow electricty and heat to flow through.
What is mallaebilty? the ability of a solid to be hammered.
What is melting point? the temp a solid becomes liquid.
What is boiling point? The temp a liquid becomes a gas.
What is filtration? seperating materials based on the size of particles.
