Copyright and Viruses

What is Copyright? The legal right of ownership to the work produced in many things.
What does Copyright protect? Protects the Tangible expression ideas.
What is infringement? The act of Violating copyright by copying somebodies work.
What does Fair use allow? Allows copyrighted work to be repurposed and used in another work.
What is derivative work? A screenplay of some sort based on a book.
What is software? Programs that tell a computer what to do.
What is copyrighted software? A software that is legally protected from being copied or used illegally.
What is Public Domain Software? Non-copyrighted software that anyone can copy or use without charge.
What is shareware? Copyrighted software that may be tried without expense but requires payment if you decide to use it.
What is Freeware? Something on the web used freely.
Piracy The act of stealing value
Hacking Breaking into computers to read e-mails and other files (hackers delete or alter files)
Identity Theft Occurs when someone appropriates another’s personal information without their knowledge to commit theft or fraud.
Releasing Virus Worms Intentionally releasing a virus or worm to harm others or attack networks
