Law of Conservation of mass The products of a chemical reaction must contain the same number of atoms of each kind as the reactants
Physical change A change in an object's physical appearance, but it is still the same compound or element and can be returned to its former state.
Element A substance that cannot be broken down into a simpler substance
Chemical Formula A representation of the chemical names of substances.
Reactant A substance that exists before a chemical reaction begins.
Product A substance that forms as a result of a chemical change
Coefficient The number in front of an element in a formula that shows how many molecules there must be to balance the equation.
Subscript a value to the bottom right of an element symbol telling how many of one atom are in a compound.
Chemical Change Occurs when one substance joins with another substance to form a new substance.
Element (Diatomic) Molecule A molecule made of two atoms of either the same or different elements
Chemical Reaction Process that produces a chemical change often marked by a sound, heat light, etc.
