QuestionAnswer
The Law of Conversation of Mass The mass of the products of a chemical reaction must be the same as the mass of the reactants in that reaction.
Physical Change Physical properties are only affected, such as its size or shape, whether it is a solid, liquid, or gas.
Chemical Change Produces new substancesthat have properties different from those of the original substances.
Element Substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances
Chemical Formula Represents the name of the substances in a chemical equation.
Element (Diatomic) Molecule Consists of 2 different elements and have the same geometric shape.
Compound Molecule
Chemical Equation Tells the products, physical state, and the proportions of each substance present.
Chemical Reaction Takes place when chemicals combine to form new substances.
Reactants (in a chemical equation) The substances that exsist before the reaction begins.
Products (in a chemical equation) The subastances that form as a result of the reaction.
Coefficient (in a chemical equation) The number at the beginning of the chemical equation the represents the amount of molecules in a chemical equation.
Subscript (in a chemical equation) the number in front of the element that shows the quantity of an element.
