What are whole numbers? | Example: 1, 2, 3,4, 5 |
What are fractions? | Example:1/2 , 1/4, 12/34 |
What is a proper fraction? | A fraction that has a numerator less than the denominator: ex 1/2. 3/5 ; 22/111 |
What are improper fractions? | Numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator : 5/5 ; 34/4; 11/7 |
What is a Mixed number? | A single number that represents the sum of a natural number and a proper fraction like 5 3/4 is 5+ 3/4 |
What are factors (just give example) | Example: 3 X 6 are factors of 18 |
How do we factor a number? | By writing it as a product of two or more numbers. It's the reverse of multiplication: 18= 3 x 6 |
What is a prime? | Is a number that has only itself as and 1 as a factor. Ex: 2, 3 5, 7, 11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37 |
What is a composite number? | A natural number greater than 1 that is not prime is called this: 4,,8,9, 10, 12,14,15, 16 |
Prime Factors | Factors of prime numbers |
Lowest terms | when the numerator and denominator have no factors in common, other than 1. |
