range | the difference between the greatest and least numbers in a data set |
gap | a space with no data |
central tendency | numbers that describe the middle or center of a set of data |

median | the middle number when ordered from least to greatest |
mode | the number repeated most often |
stem-and-leaf plot | a system used to condense a set of data where the greatest place value of the data forms the stems and the next greatest place value forms the leaves |
bar graph | a graphic form using bars to make comparisons of statistics |
Venn diagram | an arrangement of overlapping circles used to show how two or more sets of data are related |
line graph | a type of statistical graph using lines to show how values change over a period of time |
circle graph | a type of statistical graph used to compare parts of a whole |
stem | anything to the left of the very last number (everything to the left of the ones place) |
leaf | the last number (the ones place) |
key | an explanation of the stem and leaf |
inference | to derive by reasoning; conclude or judge from premises or evidence |
histogram | a bar graph that shows the frequency of data within equal intervals |
