dependent variable | The variable in a relation that depends on the value of the independent variable |

exponent | Tells you how many times to multiply the base by itself |

hypothesis | The part of the conditional that is after the 'if' |
independent variable | The variable in a relation that does not depend on the value of the dependent variable |
inequality | A statement that compares two quantities using <, >, ≤,≥, or ≠ |
integer | A positive or negative whole number |
irrational numbers | A number that cannot be expressed as a ratio or fraction |
like terms | Terms that have the same variable |
multiplicative inverses | For any number a, a * (1/a) = 1 |
order of operations | PEMDAS |
perfect square | Rational numbers whose square roots are whole numbers |
real numbers | The set of rational numbers and irrational numbers together |
reciprocal | The multiplicative inverse of a number - flip it |
solution | A replacement value for the variable in an open sentence - the answer |
