Scalar | A type of measurement that gives a number only |
Vector | A type of measurement that gives both an amount and a direction |
Magnitude | The number or amount of a given measurement |
Order of magnitude | a way to compare measurements using scientific notation |
Mega | the metric prefix for a million |
Speed | the scalar quantity for how fast an object is travelling |
Velocity | the vector quantity for how fast and in what direction an object is travelling |
Distance | the scalar quantity for how far an object has travelled |
Displacement | the vector quantity for the distance and direction an object has travelled |
Acceleration | the vector quantity that describes the rate of change of motion |
Hypothesis | an experimental statement that will be tested in order to answer a question |
Theory | a collection of statements that have endured scientific testing |
Scientific Law | A statement of fact that most likely will never be proven false |
Dogma | A collection of sound scientific laws |
