Question | Answer |
Mole ratios | T: ratio of moles or reactants and products in every balanced chm eq. B: Conversion factors based on balanced chemical equations. |
Stoichiometry | Using a chemical equation to calculate the relative masses of the reactants and products of a reaction. |
Limiting reactant | Reactant that limits the amount of products that can be formed. It's used first in a chm reaction. Ex. once methane is consumed no more products can be made. |
Theoretical yield | B: Amount of product predicted for the amounts of the reactants used. T: Calculated from a limiting reactant problem. |
Percent yield | Amount of the actual yield compared to the theoretical yield. Actual yield / theoretical yield x 100% |
Stoichiometry calculations | calculations based on balanced chemical reactions to predict the cost of processes. |
Law of conservation of mass | Mass is neither created nor destroyed during a chemical reaction |
Alloy | Mixture of elements. Ex. Steel (has iron + other elements) |
Mass- mass stoichiometry problem | Used to convert the mass of a reactant or product to an unknown mass of reactant or product. |
Actual yield | Amount of product collected from an experiment. |
