Term | Definition |
Absolute value | the distance from zero on a number line. Makes every number positive |
additive inverse | Two numbers that are opposite and add up to zero. Ex. 5 and -5. |
coordinate grid/coordinate plane | a graph with a x and y axis(a vertical and horizontal lines) |
graph | to plot a point on a line or coordinate grid |
integer | any whole number positive or negative and 0 |
negative integer | a whole number that is negative(-5) |
positive integer | a whole number that is positive(5) |
opposite | have the same distance from zero, but are on opposite sides of zero(5 and -5) |
ordered pair | (5,-2) for example. Gives an (x,y) point with an x an y coordinate. |
origen | zero, where the x-axis and y-axis intersect. |
quadrant | the coordinate plane is divided into 4 quadrants(sections) |
x-axis | horizontal number line(right,left) |
y-axis | vertical number line(up, down) |
x-coordinate | the first number in the ordered pair that correspondes to the x-axis |
y-coordinate | the second number in an ordered pair that correspondes to the y-axis |
