Homogeneous Solution | Consisting of only one substance |
Heterogeneous Solution | consisting of two or more substances |
Distillation | The evaporation and subsequent collection of a liquid by condensation as a means of purification |
Physical Changes | a type of change in which the form of matter is altered but one substance is not transformed into another |
Physical Properties | any measurable property the value of which describes a physical system's state at any given moment in time |
Chemical Changes | a new substance is formed and energy is either given off or absorbed. |
Chemical Properties | any of a material's properties that becomes evident during a chemical reaction |
Law of Conservation of Matter | The mass of a closed system will remain constant over time. The mass of an isolated system cannot be changed as a result of the processes acting inside the system. Mass can't be created or destroyed. |
