| quadrilateral | a four-sided polygon |
| hexagon | 6 sided polygon |
| pentagon | 5 sided polygon |
| octagon | 8 sided polygon |
| congruent | same size, same shape |
| Parallelogram | A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides |
| Trapezoid | a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides |
| square | 4 equal sides and 4 right angles |
| parallel lines | lines that never meet or intersect |
| perpendicular lines | Lines that intersect to form right angles, X and Y axis are perpendicular |
| right angle | 90 degree angle |
| acute angle | less than 90 degrees |
| obtuse angle | more than 90 degrees |
| isosceles triangle | A triangle that has 2 equal sides. |
| scalene triangle | a triangle with no congruent sides |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle with 3 congruent sides and acute |
