| Adding integers with different signs | Subtract the integers. Keep the sign of the greatest absolute value ex. 2 + -4 = -2 -2 + 4 -2 |
| Subtracting Integers | Add the opposite or Keep, change, change Then follow addition rules keep 1st #, change (-) to (+), change sign of 2nd # ex. -4 - 2 = -4 + -2 = -6 |
| Distance between two integers | Find the absolute value of the difference (subtract) of the two integers |
| Additive inverse | The opposite of a number the sum of a number and its additive inverse is 0 ex. 5 + -5 = 0 |
| absolute value | The distance a number is from zero on a number line. ALWAYS POSITIVE .The notation is 2 bars. ex. the absolute value of 5 is 5, the absolute value of -5 is 5 |
| Multiplying or dividing integers with different signs | negative ex. 5 x -2 = -10 ex. -10/2= -5 |
| Multiplying or dividing integers with same signs | positive ex. 5x5=25 -25/-5=5 |
