Accuracy | Agreement of a particular value with the true value |
Precision | Agreement among several measurements of the same quantity; reproducibility of a measurement |
Meniscus | The curved upper surface of a liquid in a tube |

"Best Straight Line" | Linear relationship of mass and volume |

Hydrate | Salts that contain water as a part of their structure |
Dehydration | Two hydrogen atoms are removed from adjacent carbons of a saturated hydrocabon giving an unsaturated hydrocarbon |
Anhydrate | The salt that is left after dehydration |
Crucible | Ceramic container where metal or other substances can be melted or subjected to very high temperature |
Precipitate | Solid formed in a solution |
Alum | Special type of ionic compound referred to as a double salt. Used in the preparation of food products, tanning of leather and paper making |
Filtration | A liquid that has been passed through a filter |
Titration | Analytical technique where a reaction is carried out with a controlled addition of one reactant to another until both are consumed. |
Indicator | Dye that changes colors depending on the composition of a solution into which it is placed. |
Endpoint of Titration | Where the titration stops; Visualization of endpoint of reaction occurs by the indicator |
Equivalence Point of Titration | When the number of moles of a base in the titrant will completely react with the number of moles in the acid. |

Primary Standard | Made from compounds that have a relatively high molar mass and are readily available at low cost and high purity |
