Element | An atom that can not be broken down into smaller parts |
Proton | Has a mass of 1, a positive charge, located in the nucleus |
Neutron | Has a mass of 1, neutral charge, located in the nucleus |
Electron | Has a mass of 0, negative charge, located outside of the nucleus |
Atom | The smallest part of a chemical element that can exist |
Periodic Table | The chemical elements arranged in a table in order of atomic number arranged in rows and columns |
Dmitri Mendeleev | Russian Chemist and creator of the modern periodic table |
Atomic number | The number of protons/electrons in an atom |
Atomic mass | The number of neutrons and protons in an atom |
Isotope | Two or more forms of the same element but with differing atomic weight |
