| Term | Definition |
| Divide | splitting a quantity into smaller, equal groups. |
| Denominator | the number written below the line in a fraction. It tells how many parts there are in the whole. |
| Whole Number | any counting number, but no fractions or decimals. |
| Numerator | the top number in a fraction. It tells how many parts of the whole there are. |
| Algorithm | a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations. |
| Inverse Operation | the operation that reverses the effect of another operation. |
| Reciprocal | what to multiply a value by to get 1 - if you flip the numerator and denominator you get the reciprocal. |
| Invert | to turn upside down. |
| Simplify | to write something in its shortest and simplest form. |
