| ATM | Automated Teller Machine |
| ATM | a machine that lets you do your banking electronically |
| Balance | total amount of money you have in your bank or investment account |
| Balance | the total amount of money you owe to a credit card company |
| Bank Account | hold money in your name in your bank |
| Bond | you lend money to a government or company that will pay you back |
| Brand Name | a label or mark that a company uses to identify their products |
| Certificate of Deposit (CD) | when you buy one of these, you agree not to use the money in it for a specific period of time |
| Check | special notes that represent money in your checking account |
| Checking Account | a bank account with money in it that you expect to spend in the near future |
| Compound Interest | your money earns this when it is in a bank or investment account...you earn a percentage of the balance which is deposited into your account |
| Consumers | the people who buy a product or service |
| Credit History | a record of every time you have used credit and a rating to show how responsible you are about paying back your debt |
| Credit | ability to borrow money that you promise to pay back |
| Currency | another word for money |
| Debit Card | used to let you pay for items by taking money directly from your bank account |
| Deflation | term to describe when prices decrease over time |
| Demand | the amount of people who want something |
| Deposit | the checks, money, and electronic transfers that go into your bank account |
| Dividentds | a portion of a company's earning that is paid to investors |
| Employee | someone who works for a person or company |
| Employer | a person or company who hires other people to work for them |
| Exchange Rate | shows how valuable one currency is to another Ex: $1 American = .88 Euro |
| Net Change | compares the most recent price of stock with its previous price |
| PIN | secret code that you must use to access your bank accounts (personal identification number) |
| Principal | the amount of money your put in the bak |
| Profit | the amount of money you make when you sell something for more than you originally paid for it |
| Publicly Traded Company | companies whose stock is sold on the stock market to anyone who wants to buy it |
| Salary | a fixed amount of money you receive regularly for working at a job |
| Savings Account | a bank account that you use for the money that you don't plan to spend soon |
| Shareholder | people who invest their money in a company's stock |
| Shares | ownership of a small piece of a company |
| Simple Interest | this is paid only on the money you have deposited, not the total amount in your account |
| Stock Market | a place where stocks are bought and sold |
| Stock | investment that represents ownership |
| Value | what a good or service is worth |
| Withdrawl | when you take money out of an account at a bank |
