Term | Definition |
Rate | a ratio in which the two quantities being measured are in different units |
Rate of Change | used to describe how fast something is increasing or decreasing |
Unit Rate | a comparison of two quantities in which the denominator has a value of 1 |
Rise | vertical change from one point to the next on a coordinate plane |
Run | horizontal change from one point to the next on a coordinate plane |
Slope | a mathematical term for rate of change |
Slope-Intercept Form | a linear equation: y=mx+b, where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept |
y-intercept | the coordinates of a point where a graph crosses the y-axis |
Direct Variation | a proportional relationship where the graph is a straight line that goes through the origin |
Point-Slope Form | a linear equation: m(x-x1)=(y-y1), where (x1, y1) is a point the graph passes through and m is the slope |
Standard Form | a linear equation: Ax+By=C, where A, B, and C are constants and A and B are not both zero |
