Term | Definition |
Addend | A number that is added to another in an addition problem. 2+4=6 the number 2 is the__________ |

Decimal | A number with one or more digits to the right of the decimal point. |

Equal sign (=) | A symbol used to show that two numbers have the same value. |
Estimate | To find an answer that is close to the exact amount. |
Even | A whole number that has a 0,2,4,6,8 in the ones place. |
Factor | A number that is multiplied by another number to find a product. |
Fahrenheit (F) | Customary scale for measuring temperature |
Financial Institution | A bussiness, like a bank, that collects money, keeps it safe, and provides money for people and businesses to borrow. |

Quotient | The number that results from a division |
Remainder | The amount left over that cannot be divided equally |
Fixed expense | Expenses that occur regularly and the amount does not change. example: Gym membership, car payment, newspaper delivery |
Variable expense | Expenses that the amount does change based on need or choice. example: clothing, groceries, gas, electric bill |
Division | The process of separating items into equal groups. The opposite operation of multiplication. |
Clockwise | In the same direction in which the hands of a clock move. |
Compatible numbers | Numbers that are easy to compute mentally. |
Counterclockwise | In the opposite direction in which the hands of a clock move. |
Expanded form | a way to write numbersby showing the value of each digit. Example: 3,456 = 3,000+400+50+6 |
Hundredth | One of the hundred equal parts. Example: 0.01 = 1/100 |
Pattern | an ordered set of numbers or objects; the order helps you predict what will come next. example: 3,6,9,12... |
