Question | Answer |
Dimensions | The length, breadth and height of plane figures or solids |
Two-dimensional | Flat, or having only two dimensions (length and breadth, but no height). |
Perimeter | The distance around a shape, or the total length of a shape’s boundary. |
Circumference | The perimeter of a circle. |
Area | The amount of surface covered by an object. |
Composite shape | A plane shape made up of simpler geometric shapes. |
Perpendicular height | The height measured perpendicularly from the base to the vertex at the top. That is, creating an angle of 90 degrees with the base. |
Capacity | The amount a container can hol |
Volume | The amount of space taken up by an object or substance, measured in cubic units. |
Net | A flat shape that can be folded up into a solid. |
Prism | A 3D (three-dimensional) object with two facing ends or bases (polygons) that are the same size and the same shape (ie they are congruent). All its other faces are rectangular. |
Radius | The distance from the centre of the circle to the circumference of the circle. |
Diameter | An interval across a circle through the centre (twice the radius). |
