Term | Definition |
Mean | the average of a data set; add up all the numbers and divide by the total amount of numbers. |
Median | the middle number of a data set. |
Mode | the number that occurs the most in a data set. |
Range | maximum - minimum. |
Best Fit Line | line on a scatter-plot showing the direction that the data is heading. |
Residual | distance in the actual and predicted value; (actual - predicted). |
Standard Deviation | a measure of how spread out the numbers in a data set are. |
Probability of an Event | number of ways an event can occur / total number of outcomes. |
Bivariate Data | data set where there are two variables. |
Conditional Probability | probability for dependent events where event "A" is dependent or changed by event "B". |
P(A) | probability that event "A" occurs. |
P(A∩B) | probability that event "A" and event "B" occur. |
P(A∪B) | probability that event "A" or event "B" occurs. |
P(A|B) | probability that event "A" occurs given that event "B" has occurred. |
