Covalent | Form when atoms share electrons. |
fundamental unit | A unit adopted for measurement of a base quantity. (basic measurement) |
derived unit | units formed from other units. |
exothermic | gives off energy |
endothermic | takes in energy |
metals | give electrons |
non-metals | take electrons |
pure substance | sample of matter with the same composition and properties whatever its source |
heterogeneous | composition and properties are not uniform |
homogeneous | composition and properties are uniform throughout the mixture |
matter | anything that has mass and takes up volume |
atom | basic unit of matter |
scientific notation | uses powers of 10 to write very large or very small numbers in shorter form. |
