inverse operations | undoes another operation |
multiplication property of equality | multiplying each side of an equation by the same nonzero number produces an equivalent expression |
division property of equality | dividing each side of an equation by the same nonzero number produces an equivalent expression |
identity | an equation that is true for every possible value of the variable |
no solution | an equation with no value of the variable that makes that equation true |
literal equation | a equation that involves two or more variables |
formula | an equation that states a relationship among quantities |
