Definitions | Answer |
Chemical Formula | Atoms of elements that make up a molecule= NaOH |
Chemical Equation | Contains reactants and products of chemical reaction |
Acids | Substances that produce hydrogen ions in water solution |
Conservation of Mass | Number of each of reactants equals the number of each atom of products |
Bases | Any substance that forms hydroxide ions in a water solution and accepts H+ from acids. |
Ion | A positively or negatively charged atom or molecule |
Dissociation | =Seperation=Bases seperate to form a positive ion and hydroxide ion. |
pH | The potential for Hydrogen |
pH Scale | A scale that measures how acidic or basic a substance is. This ranges from 0-14 |
Indicator | Something that reveals the pH of a particular substance, or whether it is acidic or basic. Usually done by changing colors |
Buffer | A substance that minimizes the changes in pH for a solution |
Litmus Paper | the paper that changes color to determine if a substance is acidic or basic |
