Congruent Angles | Angles that have the same measure. |
Vertical Angles | Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines. Vertical angles are congruent. |
Complementary Angles | Two or more angles with a sum of 90 degrees. |
Supplementary Angles | Two or more angles with a sum of 180 degrees. |
Perpendicular Lines | Lines that intersect to form right angles. |
Parallel Lines | Lines in the same plane that do not intersect. |
Transversal | A line that intersect two or more lines. |
Scalene Triangle | A triangle with no congruent lines. |
Isosceles Triangle | A triangle with exactly two congruent sides. |
Equilateral Triangle | A triangle in which all sides are congruent. |
Acute Triangle | A triangle in which all angles are acute. |
Obtuse Triangle | A triangle that has exactly one obtuse angle. |
Right Triangle | A triangle that has exactly one right angle. |
Parallelogram | A quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent parallel sides. Opposite angels are congruent. |
Rectangle | A parallelogram with four right angels. |
Rhombus | A parallelogram with four congruent sides. |
Square | A parallelogram with four congruent sides and four congruent angels. |
Kite | A quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent, adjacent sides. Opposite sides are not congruent. |
Trapezoid | A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. |
Scale Drawing | A proportional, two-dimensional object that accurately represents an actual object. |
Scale Model | A proportional, three-dimensional object that accurately represents an actual object. |
Scale | A ratio that compares the measurements of the drawing or model to the actual measurements of an object. |
Scale Factor | A scale without units (A scale can be written without units when the units are the same.) |
Acute Angle | An angle with a measurement less than 90 degrees. |
Right Angle | An angle with a measurement of exactly 90 degrees. |
Obtuse Angle | An angle with measurement greater than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees. |
Straight Angle | An angle with a measure of exactly 180 degrees. |
Point | An exact location. It is the building block of geometry. |
Line | A series of points with no end. |
Plane | A perfectly flat surface that extends infinitely in all directions. |
Ray | Part of a line with only one endpoint that extends without end in one direction. |
Line Segment | Part of a line or ray that extends from on endpoint to another. |
Angle | Two rays with a common endpoint. |
