Term | Definition |
Regular Polygon | A polygon with all angles equal and all sides equal. |
Irregular Polygon | A polygon with not all angles equal and/or not all sides equal. |
Convex Polygon | A polygon with no angles pointing inwards. |
Concave Polygon | A polygon with at least one internal angle greater than 180 degrees. |
Simple Polygon | A polygon which does not cross over itself. |
Complex Polygon | A polygon which intersects itself. |
Vertex | The endpoint where two sides of a polygon meet. |
Polygon | A closed plane figure with straight sides. |
Triangle | A polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles in which the 3 angles always add up to 180 degrees. |
Quadrilateral | A four-sided polygon. |
Pentagon | A five-sided polygon. |
Hexagon | A polygon with six sides. |
Heptagon | A seven-sided polygon. |
Octagon | A polygon with eight sides. |
Nonagon | A polygon with nine sides. |
Decagon | A ten-sided polygon. |
Irregular Hexagon | A six-sided polygon in which not all sides are equal and/or not all angles are equal. |
Concave Octagon | An eight-sided polygon in which at least one internal angle is greater than 180 degrees. |
Simple Pentagon | A five-sided polygon in which it does not cross over itself. |
Complex Heptagon | A seven-sided polygon in which it intersects itself. |
