square root | a number that when mltipled by itself, equals the given number |
perfect square | a number with integers as its square roots |
radical sign | the symbol square root which is used to represent a square root |
radicand | the number under a radical sign |
theorem | a rule in mathmatics |
legs | the two sides of a right triangle that form the right angle |
hypotenuse | the side of a right angle that is opposite of the right angle |
irrational number | a number that cannot be written as a ratio of two integers |
rational numbers | a number that can be written as the ratio of two integers where a and b are integers and b does not =0 |
real numbers | the set of all rational an irrational numbers |
cube root | a number that wen multiplied by itself, and then multiplied by itself again equals the given number |
perfect cube | a number that can be written as the cube of an interger |
Pythagorean theorom | in any right angle, the sum of the squares of the lengths of its legs is equal to the square of the length of the hpotenuse |
Pythagorean triple | a set of three positive integers a,b,c where a2+b2+c2 |
