Term | Definition |
Triangle | A polygon with three sides. |
Scalene Triangle | A triangle with no congruent sides. |
Isosceles Triangle | A triangle that has, at most, two congruent sides. |
Equilateral Triangle | A triangle with three congruent sides. |
Acute Triangle | A triangle with all three angles measuring between 0 & 90 degrees. |
Right Triangle | A triangle with one angle measuring 90 degrees. |
Obtuse Triangle | A triangle with one angle measuring between 90 & 180 degrees. |
Equiangular Triangle | A triangle with three congruent angles. |
Vertex Angle | The noncongruent angle opposite the base of an isosceles triangle. |
Base Angles | The two angles that are adjacent to the base of an isosceles triangle. |
Base | The noncongruent side of an isosceles triangle. |
Legs | The two congruent sides of an isosceles triangle. |
Triangle Sum Theorem | The sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 180 degrees. |
Exterior Angle Theorem | The measure of each exterior angle of a triangle equals the sum of the measures of its two remote interior angles. |
Interior Angles | The orginial angles of a polygon after the sides are extended. |
Exterior Angles | The angles that form linear pairs with the interior angles. |
