acetate | a salt or ester of acetic acid |
action-at-a-distance forces | forces that have effect without touching an object |
charging by conduction | transferring charge between objects by touching them together |
charging by induction | rearranging electrons on a neutral object by bringing a a charged object close to it |
conductors | materials that allow electrons to move freely on and through them |
contact forces | forces that only affect objects they touch |
coulomb | unit of electrical charge, one coulomb is the amount of charge passing a point in one second |
electric force | a push or pull between charged objects |
electrons | negatively charged atoms surrounding the nucleus |
