Prime number | A number greater than 1 that has only itself and 1 as a factor |
Composite number | A number greater than 1 that is divisible by a number other than itself and 1 |
Prime factorization | Expressing a composite number as the product of prime numbers |
Greatest common factor | The largest number that is a factor of the original numbers |
Least common multiple | The smallest number that is divisible by both numbers |
Rational numbers | The set of all the numbers that can be expressed in the form a/b, where a and b are not equal to 0 |
Terminating decimal | A decimal that ends |
Repeating decimal | A decimal that has a part that repeats |
Reciprocal | Two numbers whose product is 1 |
Scientific notation | A number expressed in the form of a x 10^n, where a is a number between 1 and 10 and n is an integer |
Irrational number | The set of numbers whose decimal representations are neither terminating nor repeating |
Perfect square | A number that is a square of a whole number |
Rationalizing the denominator | The process of rewriting a radical to remove the square root from the denominator |
Real numbers | The set of rational and irrational numbers |
Natural numbers | The counting numbers |
Whole numbers | The natural numbers and zero |
Integers | The whole numbers and their opposites |
