Direct variation | a relationship between two variables that is expressed by an equation where one variable is equal to a constant times another. |
Linear Equation | a equation where each term is a constant or the product of a constant. |
Point-slope form | the equation of a straight line in the form y − y1 = m(x − x1) where m is the slope of the line and (x1, y1) are the coordinates of a given point on the line |
Slope-intercept form | the equation of a straight line in the form y = mx + b where m is the slope of the line and b is its y-intercept |
Rate of Change | The speed at which a variable changes over a specific period of time. |
Slope | The steepness of a line |
x-intercept | the x-coordinate of a point where a line, curve, or surface intersects the x-axis |
y-intercept | the y-coordinate of a point where a line, curve, or surface intersects the y-axis |
unit rate | the ratio of two measurements in which the second term is 1. |
Proportional relationship | Two quantities are proportional if they vary in such a way that one of them is a constant multiple of the other. |
