Element | A substance that cannot be spilt into simpler substances chamically |
Triad | A group of 3 elements with similar chemical properties. the atomic weight of 1 is almost equal to the average of other 2 |
Newlands' Octaves | A group elements arranged in order of atomic weight. the 1st and 8th have similar properties |
Mendeleev's Periodic Law | The elements are arranged in increasing atomic weight.The properties vary periodically. |
Atomic Number | The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom |
Atomic Mass Number | The amount of protons and neutrons in an atom |
Isotopes | Variations of atoms with the same atomic number but different mass number. |
Aubfau Priciple | When building electronic configurations, the electron will occupy the lowest energy level |
Hunds Rule of Maximum Multiplicity | When 2 or more orbitals of equal energy are available, electrons will fill in singly before in pairs. |
Pauli Exclusion Principle | No more then 2 electrons can fill an orbital and they must have opposite spin. |
