Term | Definition |
Radians | A unit of measure for angles |
Degrees | Another way to measure angles symbolizes by a small, raised circle |
Quadrant angle | The terminal side lays on the x-axis or y-axis |
Coterminal angle | Two angles with the same initial and terminal sides |
Unit circle | A circle with the radius of one |
reference angle | Always have a measure between 0 and (pie divided by two) |
Sine | The trigonometric function that is equal to the ratio of the side opposite a given angle (in a right triangle) to the hypotenuse. |
Cosine | The trigonometric function that is equal to the ratio of the side adjacent to an acute angle (in a right-angled triangle) to the hypotenuse. |
Cosecant | The ratio of the hypotenuse (in a right-angled triangle) to the side opposite an acute angle; the reciprocal of sine. |
Tangent | A straight line or plane that touches a curve or curved surface at a point, but if extended does not cross it at that point. |
Secant | A straight line that cuts a curve in two or more parts; the reciprocal of cosine |
Cotangent | The length of the adjacent side divided by the length of the opposite side |
Inverse | takes the ratio “opposite/hypotenuse” and gives us the angle |
