Question | Answer |
Define Rate of Reaction: | The change in concentration of products or reactants over a unit of time. |
Define Rate Constant: | The constant of proportionality in a rate expression. |
How can the order of reaction for a product be determined? | By experimentation only. |
How is the rate of a reaction altered by a product with Zero order? | Unaffected. |
How is the rate of a reaction altered by the concentration of a product with First order? | As the concentration is doubled, the rate is doubled . |
How is the rate of reaction altered by the concentration of a product with Second Order? | As the concentration is altered the rate is raised to the power of this alteration, eg. as it is doubled (x2) the rate will be (2squared = x4). |
How does temp affect rate constant? | It increases it. |
What is the total order of a reaction? | The sum of the powers of the concentrations in a rate equation |
