Question | Answer |
How do you find slope/rate of change? | y-change divided by x-change; m = y2-y1/x2-x1 |
What is the slope-intercept form of an equation and what do the variables represent? | y= mx + b m is the slope, b is the y-intercept |
How do you graph a line from the slope-intercept form of an equation? | Plot your y-intercept. From that point, use your slope to find another point on the line. Connect the two points. |
What is the standard form of a linear equation and what must you remember about the coefficients? | Ax + By = C The coefficients cannot be fractions or decimals, and the A-term must be positive. |
What is the point-slope form of a linear equation? | y -y1 = m(x-x1) This equation is the easiest to use when you are provided with a point and a slope. |
What are x- and y-intercepts? | The points on a graph where the line crosses through the x- and y- axes. The intercepts inform you of what will happen in a given sitaution when one of the variables is a value of zero. |
How do you mathematically determine your x- and y-intercepts? | Plug in a value of 0 for x and solve for y to determine your y-intercept. Plug in a value of y and solve for x to determine your x-intercept. |
