covalent compound | a molecule formed by covalent bonds, in which the atoms share one or more pairs of valence electrons. |
metallic compound | A metallic compound is a compound that contains one or more metal elements. |
synthesis | The formation of a chemical compound through the combination of simpler compounds or elements. |
decomposition | A decomposition reaction is a type of chemical reaction where one reactant yields two or more products. |
single replacement | A single displacement reaction is a chemical reaction where one reactant is exchanged for one ion of a second reactant. |
double replacement | A double replacement reaction is a chemical reaction where two reactant ionic compounds exchange ions to form two new product compounds with the same ions. |
