Probability   Measures the likelihood of an event happening.

Theoretical Probability   How likely something is "supposed" to happen.

Experimental Probability   How likely something "does" happen.

Survey   A question or set of questions used to gather data or pieces of information.

Population   The group being surveyed.

Sample   A smaller group from a population. The sample is supposed to represent the population.

Random Sample   A sample in which each individual in the selected population has the same chance of being part of the sample.

Biased Sample   A sample in which members of the population have a greater chance of being selected for the sample than other members.

Actual Error   The difference between the actual measure/amount and the estimated.

Relative Error   The quotient of the actual error and the actual measure/amount, often expressed as a percent.
