Definition
Data   Information that is gathered by counting, measuring, questioning, or observing.

Statistics   The study of numerical data: collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to interpret it and answer questions.

Statistical Question   A question that would be answered by collecting or analyzing data.

Range   The difference between the maximum and the minimum in a data set. It is a measure of how spread out a distribution is.

Variability   How spread out the values in a set of data are.

Dot Plot   A number line long enough to encompass all numbers in a sample, showing a dot over the position corresponding to each number.

Maximum   Highest or greatest amount or value.

Mode   A type of average.

Minimum   Lowest or least amount or value.

Median   A type of average which is the middle value of an ordered set of data values.

Distribution   The arrangement and frequency of data values in a data set.

Data Landmark   A notable feature of a data set.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
 
To hide a column, click on the column name.
 
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
 
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
 
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
