Term
Definition
Outcome   A result of a probability experiment.
🗑
Probability   the chance of something occurring.
🗑
Sample Space   The set of all possible outcomes.
🗑
Simple Event   one event or action
🗑
Impossible   A probability of 0
🗑
Certain   A probability of 1
🗑
Equally likely as not   A probability of 1/2
🗑
Likely   A probability between 1/2 and 1
🗑
Unlikely   A probability between 0 and 1/2
🗑
experiment   Something you can do over and over again, and you don’t know what will happen each time.
🗑
Complementary Events   Two events in which either one of the other must happen, but they cannot happen at the same time.
🗑
Event   The desired outcome or set of outcomes in a probability experiment.
🗑
Experimental Probability   An estimated probability based on the relative frequency of positive outcomes during an experiment. It is based on what ACTUALLY occurred during such an experiment.
🗑
Theoretical Probability   The ratio of the number of ways an event can occur to the number of possible outcomes in the sample space. It is based on what SHOULD happen when conducting a probability experiment.
🗑
Likelihood   The chance of an event happening.
🗑
Relative Frequency   A ratio that compares the frequency of each category to the total.
🗑
Relative Frequency Bar Graph   A bar graph showing the relative frequency of an experiment.
🗑
Relative Frequency Table   A list of the relative frequencies in an experiment.
🗑
Uniform Probability Model   A probability model which assigns equal probability to all outcomes.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
