Negative feedback   Inhibitory mechanisms in the body that negate or oppose a change by creating a response that is opposite in direction to the initial disturbance in order to return body to homeostasis

ATP   Adenosine Triphosphate. An important organice molecule because it is the form of energy used to do the work of muscle contraction, active transport, and biosynthesis.

Cellular respiration   process by which cells break down glucose, or a nutrient that has been converted to glucose or one of its simpler products, not carbon dioxide and water.

Transcription   Synthesis of any RNA molecule. Copies and transcribes a portion of the DNA code.
