Term
Definition
State Of Matter   The three different forms that matter can appear as- solid, liquid, or gas.
🗑
Solid   The state of matter where the particles are packed close together and hold their shape
🗑
Liquid   The state of matter where particles are slightly looser and will take the shape of whatever container it is in
🗑
Gas   The state of matter in which the particles move freely and do not hold any shape at all.
🗑
Atom   The smallest piece of matter that can still be considered matter. Made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons
🗑
Proton   A subatomic particle that makes up part of an atom’s nucleus and has a positive charge. Number of protons in an atom determines what the element will be.
🗑
Neutrons   A subatomic particle that makes up part of an atom’s nucleus and has no charge.
🗑
Nucleus   The control center found in the center of the atom, controls the atoms physical properties. Is made up of protons and neutrons
🗑
Electron   Negatively charged subatomic particles that orbit the nucleus. Determines the chemical reactions with other elements
🗑
Electron Cloud   The cloud in which electrons lie in
🗑
Valence Electron   An electron in the outer shell that can form other bonds with atoms
🗑
Periodic Table of Elements   A table that contains every element known to man put in a certain order that is based on patterns and gives other information on the element
🗑
Reactivity   How likely it is for an element to react with another element
🗑
Atomic Number   The atomic number is the number of protons found in one atoms of the element
🗑
Mass Number   The rounded mass of one atoms of an element
🗑
Atomic Mass   the exact mass of a single atom of an atom
🗑
Element   a substance in which all the atoms have the same number of protons
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
